At the airport: Airport check in desks generally close 60 minutes before departure. This time can vary so it is recommended to check the airport guide for your departure airport. 

Hand baggage is included as part of all tickets, and depending on the cabin you might be able to take more than just the one bag. 

You can check in at least one 23kg bag for free unless you’re flying Economy Light.

Note: Passengers flying to or from Delhi, Mumbai, Lagos, Johannesburg, Cape Town, Islamabad and Lahore have a different baggage allowance. 

• Hand baggage should not exceed 23 x 36 x 56cm (9 x 14 x 22 inches).
• Economy (Light, Classic & Delight) or Premium cabins: One piece of hand baggage per person weighing up to 10kg (or 22lb) is allowed 
• Upper Class passengers: Up to two pieces of hand baggage per person, weighing up to 12kg (26lb) for one bag, or up to 16kg (35lb) combined weight.

• Economy: One checked in bag, maximum weight 23kg, maximum dimensions 35.5 x 29.5 x 16 in. (Please note that Economy Light tickets do not come with a free checked in bag, but additional baggage may be purchased if needed.)
• Premium: Two checked bags, maximum weight 23kg each, maximum dimensions 35.5 x 29.5 x 16 in.
• Upper Class: Two checked bags, maximum weight 32 kg each, maximum dimensions 35.5 x 29.5 x 16in.
Baggage allowance exceptions
Additional baggage allowance is provided for members of the Flying Club and SkyTeam

If you’ve reached Flying Club Gold or Silver or you are a SkyTeam Elite or Elite Plus member, you can check in an extra piece of baggage on all Virgin Atlantic operated flights for no extra charge (weighing up to 23kg). Extra bags, Overweight and oversized baggage

Extra bags
• If you’d like to bring more than your free bag allowance, or if you’ve purchased an Economy Light ticket and would like to add a bag, you can add up to 7 extra bags per person when you check in online.
• Online check in opens 24 hours before your flight is due to depart, and closes 70 minutes before.
• You can also pay for extra bags at the airport. It costs exactly the same, but the limit is 10 bags per person.

Overweight bags 
If your bag is over 23kg, you’ll need to pay an overweight baggage fee at the airport. 
Note: Upper Class passengers are allowed to check bags with a maximum weight of 32kg per bag.

Additional baggage charges are per flight. Please note that any excess baggage bought is non-refundable and non-transferable. If a bag is overweight and also oversized, then two separate charges will apply.

Oversized bags
• Oversized bags classify as items larger than the standard baggage size of 90 x 75 x 43cm (35.5 x 29.5 x 16in).
• Bags that are over 190 x 75 x 65cm (75 x 29.5 x 25.5in) won’t be able to be checked in as baggage, but might be able to fly as cargo. You will need to contact a freight forwarder to do this.
• The fees for oversized checked in bags are £200 (or $300 US) per item. (Outside of the UK and US, the £UK fee will be converted to your local currency.)

Refundable Tickets: If you have purchased a refundable ticket, you can cancel your flight and receive a full refund without any penalties, as long as the cancellation is made according to the airline’s terms and conditions.

Non-refundable Tickets: For non-refundable tickets, you generally won’t receive a refund if you decide to cancel your flight. However, depending on the fare rules, you might be able to use the remaining value of the ticket towards a future Sun Country Airlines flight, subject to change fees and any fare differences.

24-Hour Cancellation Window: Sun Country Airlines, like many other carriers, offers a 24-hour cancellation window. This means that you can cancel your reservation within 24 hours of booking without incurring any fees, as long as the reservation was made at least seven days before the flight’s scheduled departure.

Flight Changes and Cancellations by the Airline: If Sun Country Airlines cancels or significantly changes your flight, you may be eligible for a refund, rebooking on an alternate flight, or other compensation according to the airline’s policies and applicable regulations.

If you miss your flight for any reason you must still go to the airport on the day of departure and present yourself to Virgin Atlantic’s airport staff. At the airport, they will book you onto the next available Virgin Atlantic flight at no extra charge and will not cancel your return or onward journeys.  

You may be charged extra if:
• You elect to travel on a Virgin Atlantic flight to an alternative destination;
• You elect to travel on a flight operated by another carrier; or
•  You elect to travel in a seat that is in a higher booking class than the one you paid for.

If you do not show up for your scheduled Virgin Atlantic flight and do not inform airport staff of your absence on the day of departure, your ticket may become invalid and Virgin Atlantic may cancel any return or onward flights associated with the booking.

It is highly recommended that you contact Virgin Atlantic as soon as possible to discuss your options.

Small dogs and cats are allowed to travel in the cabin with their owners, while larger pets must travel in the cargo hold. 

Specific requirements for pet carriers must be met when you travel with your pet. Please make sure that your pet carrier is leak-proof, well-ventilated, and your pet is able to fit comfortably under the seat or in the cargo hold.

Contact Virgin Atlantic’s customer service team in advance to arrange travel for your pets, as there are limitations on the number of pets allowed on each flight. There may also be fees associated with pet travel, and certain countries may have their own requirements for pet import and export.
